Extreme Vocal Institute vocal coach David Benites surprised Berklee Metal Club at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with a clinic on extreme vocals during the last few weeks of the spring semester.
The exercise you see in the video here is a way of getting a group to activate their fry screams without relying on tension that David created while on tour as a vocal coach with Fit For A King in 2022; see it in action with them here.
Thank you to (now former due to graduation!) Berklee Metal Club president Sarah for coordinating this visit!
Benites has visited Berklee many times as an expert on extreme vocals. He has taught multiple clinics at the prestigious College as well as worked with ensembles to level up their vocals for performances both on campus and off including working with bands from Berklee who have gone on to play Inkcarceration Festival.
This video of Benites working with Asher Thomas (vocalist of Nailed Shut MA) during a Knocked Loose ensemble at Berklee College of Music has been viewed millions of times across platforms.
