Viewers of the Extreme Vocal Institute YouTube channel and social accounts have been asking for vocal coach David Benites to measure the loudness of his screams with a decibel reader for awhile. Not only did it finally happen but we made both a YouTube video AND accompanying course for EVI Now as continue to strive to make learning extreme vocals accessible to everyone.
Course 42: Mastering Volume for Extreme Vocals is live in our course catalog for EVI Now. It features analysis and explanation of volume when it comes to singing and various forms of extreme vocals with exercises and will help you develop the relationship with your voice so you can always be sure what you’re doing is “loud enough”.
David has a decibel reader running throughout the entire YouTube video and the course so you can see the variations in his speaking, singing and extreme vocals unfiltered with no unnecessary inflation of numbers. He emphasizes the goal is not necessarily to be the loudest of all time; something that has come up a lot on the channel in videos like "How to Scream: why Power ≠ Tone" but that volume comes from staying balanced, relaxed and allowing your body and voice to be resonate.
Course 42: Mastering Volume for Extreme Vocals features nine video lessons with further analysis than the YouTube video, looking at different kinds of extreme vocals individually and giving you exercises to practice achieving different volume "zones" with your singing and extreme vocals.
The addition of Course 42 brings EVI Now to over 325 video lessons and inches in on forty hours of content designed for extreme vocalists of all levels looking to improve their vocals at their own pace and on their own schedule. You can check out the full course catalog here.
