Behind The Screams | Danny Stillman of Drop Dead, Gorgeous

Extreme Vocal Institute welcomes Danny "Stills" Stillman, vocalist of Drop Dead, Gorgeous to the Behind The Screams podcast. Host David Benites chatted with Stills about the band's comeback after a fifteen year hiatus, their signing to The Artery Foundation, what it was like to find his scream again after such a long break, the importance of the human element and emotion in songwriting in a world inundated with artificial intelligence and more.

Benites and Stills also reflect on the band's late guitarist, Kyle Browning, who had been one of the driving forces behind the band coming back up until his passing. They discuss the challenge of navigating their return to writing music without Browning's unique playing style and what it was like to take the stage without him—a show that both Benites and Extreme Vocal Institute's Rilee Dubilo was in attendance for.

Stills also reflects on the changes in the music industry from when they started Drop Dead, Gorgeous versus now, particularly the process of writing music. He recounts that the band had always written music in a room together versus the process now where so much is done digitally. Stills emphasized the capabilities of modern production versus the expense and challenges of recording in the 2000s.

Check out Drop Dead, Gorgeous' new song "GHOSTS" available now and catch them at the Washington D.C., Long Beach and Orlando stops of Vans Warped Tour.
