Behind the Screams with Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake

Fox Lake had a viral 2025 and are already off to a heated start in 2026. David chatted with vocalist Nathan Johnson while they were on tour about how going viral has really catapulted them into the spotlight and given them some crazy opportunities on the Behind The Screams podcast.

During the conversation, Johnson explained that the virality of "Freestyle" has brought a new, less experienced audience to their shows, requiring them to sometimes explain things like mosh pit etiquette. Despite the internet success, Johnson explains the importance of the songwriting process remaining authentic, arguing that while fan input can influence set lists or merchandise, the core music creation should be pure and free from external influence for clicks or plays. Johnson also mentioned that they had a strong feeling that "Freestyle" would be a hit, as it was the last and fastest song they wrote for the record, embodying all the elements they wanted for the band's sound.

Fox Lake is currently on tour with Poppy in Europe and will be hitting the United States later this spring supporting Thornhill.
