Winners of the 'Foundation of Bones' vocal cover contest announced!

We were all taken aback by the incredible response to the "Foundation of Bones" cover contest we ran with Enterprise Earth! We had over 80 participants and so many incredible submissions that it was incredibly challenging to narrow it down to three winners.

Yesterday, Dan and David went live on Facebook to announce the top three, discuss a bit about how they assessed the entries and how the top three earned their places!

EVI and Enterprise Earth announce 'Foundation of Bones' vocal cover contest!

We're excited to announce that Extreme Vocal Institute is collaborating with Enterprise Earth for a vocal cover contest! This will be our first contest held outside of our EVI Community group that is open to the public.

Participants will be asked to cover "Foundation of Bones", the newest single from the band released on their 2020 EP of the same name. The competition will be judged by Enterprise Earth vocalist Dan Watson and EVI owner and metal vocal coach David Benites.

The competition will run from June 24 to July 8, 2020. All covers must be posted publicly to Facebook, Instagram TV, or YouTube with Enterprise Earth (Instagram: @enterpriseearth) and Extreme Vocal Institute (Instagram: @extremevocalinstitute) tagged and using the hashtag #foundationofbones.

Contestants will be judged on tone, pronunciation, and timing accuracy. Submissions must be a one-take playthrough with the contestant's face visible. You can get the instrumental track here. The top three finalists will receive prizes from Enterprise Earth and Extreme Vocal Institute and will be announced in a live video where Dan and David will critique their performance.

Luciferous by Enterprise Earth is one of our favorite records that has been released in 2019 thus far. So, naturally, David had to cover something off of it. The song chosen is "Sleep is for the Dead". You can check out the full cover here:

This cover also kicks off Extreme Vocal Institute's first Cover Contest hosted exclusively in our Facebook community group: Extreme Vocal Institute: Community. The group is by vocalists for vocalists and is designed to be a safe space for vocalists to share their projects, covers, tips and tricks, questions, and more.
