EXTREME VOCAL INSTITUTE NEWS

This past weekend was a huge one for us at Extreme Vocal Institute. Our own David Benites, founder and frontman of Renesans, took the stage in Madison, WI and Chicago, IL for two shows as direct support to the classic metalcore/hard rock outfit Escape The Fate.

The energy in the room each night was massive, but what stood out even more were the conversations after the set. We met so many people who shared how they first got into screaming; some through lessons here at Extreme Vocal Institute, others because they discovered Renesans and felt inspired to learn after hearing the songs, perhaps most notably "Labor of Hate".

For David, it’s always a full-circle moment: teaching extreme vocals, then stepping on stage to practice what he preaches and getting to talk to people and see firsthand how those lessons and performances are sparking others to find their own voice.

What’s Next for Renesans & EVI

Renesans is currently in the studio working on new music, and David is excited to share what’s coming next. At the same time, David is opening up his schedule for private coaching sessions this fall (2025). It’s the perfect chance to work one-on-one, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your scream and take your voice to the next level.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support, connect, and share their stories. We’re grateful to see this community growing stronger every show—and we can’t wait to share even more with you soon.

David's band Renesans is back with a vengeance. "Labor of Hate" is the heaviest track that the band has put out. Written and produced in partnership with Chris Wiseman (Currents, Shadow of Intent) and Justin "JD" deBlieck (formerly Ice Nine Kills) this track is designed to make you move both physically and emotionally.

Be sure to follow Renesans on Spotify and save "Labor of Hate".

David shared his thoughts about the track in an Instagram live stream saying, "This track has the heaviest and most versatile set of vocals I've ever performed in one song."

The video was directed, produced, and edited by Dave Dunsire, also the guitarist of Renesans with a camera assist from Extreme Vocal Institute's quieter owner Rilee Dubilo. This video features bassist Ron Bernhaut and drummer Luke Green.

The guitar and bass featured in the video are beautiful pieces of art from the master craftsman Dave Cohen at Equilibrium Guitars.

Renesans is ending 2021 with a "Silver" lining - a new track and music video is streaming worldwide now.

"Silver" is an emotional track that features the most fry screaming David Benites has ever performed within a single song. Here's what he had to say about his choice to use this technique over his typical false cord scream on this song:

This might surprise you, but I used to hate doing fry screams. I’ve always leaned more towards false cord, at least until I started Renesans. Especially with Silver, there was something about the energy and vibe of the music that I felt called for a scream that was more emotional in a different way. Fry scream is incredibly reflective of how we feel since it’s purely our voice in there, and when I went for it in this song everything just clicked. I couldn’t be happier with it!

"Silver", like the previous Renesans tracks was co-written by Benites and producer Taylor Larson at MixWave Studios. Larson also mixed and mastered the track. Check out the official music video here:

The video was shot and edited by Anthony Lusk-Simone (Zenbeast Media) and color graded by Marylou Larson. The footage was taken at MixWave Studios. Single artwork by Anthony Lusk-Simone.
